I had a nine-hour layover in Bangkok and found Khao Hom from a recommendation online. The room was clean — genuinely clean, not hotel-clean-but-sticky — and the shower pressure was excellent. I slept for about four hours and felt like a different person when I woke up. The wake-up call was gentle and exactly on time. I will come back every time I transit through BKK.

We arrived at midnight and were shown to our room without any fuss at all. The shuttle was arranged for 05:15 the next morning and it was ready before we were. Breakfast was simple — toast, fruit and something warm — but more than enough before a flight. My only note would be that the Wi-Fi in the far corner of the room was a little slower than elsewhere in the property. Everything else was handled thoughtfully.

We were travelling as a family of four with two children and a 22-hour layover. The suite had enough room for us to spread out properly — the kids slept in the bedroom while my husband and I sat in the sitting area and caught up on work. The meals were simple but warm and served without rushing us. The team checked on our departure time without being asked and had the car ready at the right moment.

Six hours between connections and I spent five of them sleeping. The room was dark, quiet and the bed was considerably more comfortable than I expected. Tea and coffee already there when I arrived. Small thing, but it matters when you are jet-lagged. The area itself is calm — I expected to hear traffic but there was very little noise at all.

I travel through Bangkok three or four times a year and have now stayed at Khao Hom twice. The consistency is what stands out. The rooms are the same standard each time, the shuttle arrives when expected and the check-in is quick without feeling rushed. This last visit the breakfast rice porridge was a particularly welcome touch on a cold morning. I would not say it is a destination stay, but it is exactly what a transit guesthouse should be.

My travel was changed last minute and I ended up with an 18-hour stop in Bangkok. I found Khao Hom and called ahead — they were prepared when I arrived two hours later. The suite was spacious and the sitting area meant I could work comfortably while my colleague slept. The team tracked our new departure time without me having to remind them. For an unexpected overnight, it could not have been managed better.
